Business advice has been shown to contribute to business growth and performance. Providing business advice has therefore been seen as having the potential to address the impact of gender and ethnic differences on business start-up rates, growth and survival. Internationally, these considerations have led to advice programmes directing targeted advice at female-owned and minority-owned enterprises. Interest in diversity and its impact on business leadership and performance has also increased significantly in recent years as organisations seek to establish a business case for supporting diversity. In this report we consider the relationship between diversity, business advice, and innovation outcomes.
